Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) form the agreement between Northern Solar Ltd (“the Company”) and the Customer for installation works, additional works, inspection services, and subscription services. By accepting a quotation, issuing a purchase order, or allowing works to commence, the Customer agrees to be bound by these T&Cs.
2. General Terms (Applicable to All Services)
2.1 Quotations & Scope

Quotations define the scope of works to be undertaken.

Any variation, change, or additional work requested by the Customer may incur additional charges.

Quotations remain valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
2.2 Payment Terms
-
Invoices are issued after each stage of work or upon completion where staged payments do not apply.

Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date unless agreed otherwise.
-
Late or missed payments may incur interest and administrative fees.
2.3 Retention of Title
-
All materials and equipment remain the property of Northern Solar Ltd until full payment is received.

In cases of non‑payment, the Company may recover goods after issuing written notice.
2.4 Warranties
-
Manufacturer warranties apply to all supplied solar components.
-
A 2‑year workmanship warranty covers installation defects.
-
Warranties for additional works or inspections cover workmanship only unless stated otherwise.
2.5 Customer Responsibilities
-
The Customer is responsible for obtaining all required permissions, permits, and approvals unless agreed otherwise.
-
Safe access and a suitable working environment must be provided.
-
Risk for supplied equipment transfers to the Customer upon delivery.
-
The Customer must ensure that Wi‑Fi connectivity is maintained for systems requiring online monitoring.
2.6 Working Hours
Standard working hours are 08:00–16:00, Monday to Friday, unless agreed otherwise.
2.7 Liability

The Company is not liable for delays caused by third parties (including DNOs), adverse weather, or issues outside its control.

The Company is not responsible for structural defects, pre‑existing issues, or hidden conditions.
-
Liability is limited to the value of the contracted works unless required otherwise by law.
-
The Company is not responsible for loss of monitoring or data visibility caused by Customer Wi‑Fi issues, router changes, password changes, or internet outages.
-
The Company is not responsible for outages, changes, or limitations in third‑party monitoring platforms, apps, or cloud services provided by inverter or meter manufacturers.
2.8 Variations & Delays

Delays caused by inadequate access, unsafe working conditions, lack of preparation, or Customer‑related issues may incur additional charges, including labour costs.

The Company may refuse to carry out works if the site is unsafe or access is restricted.
2.9 Weather‑Dependent Works
-
Certain works (including roof works, external cabling, and battery installation) are weather‑dependent.
-
The Company may postpone works for safety or quality reasons without liability for delay.
2.10 Concealed or Unknown Conditions
-
If concealed or unknown conditions are discovered (including wiring defects, structural issues, asbestos, or water ingress), additional costs may apply.
2.11 DNO & Regulatory Delays
-
The Company is not responsible for delays caused by DNO approval processes, G98/G99 applications, or grid‑related restrictions.
Schedule A – Installation Terms
A1. Structural & Electrical Assumptions
-
Systems are designed to accommodate only minor structural discrepancies.
-
Existing structures must provide adequate strength and integrity.
-
The main distribution board must allow for a suitably rated MCB.
A2. Supply Requirements
-
Single‑phase or three‑phase assumptions apply as stated in the quotation.
-
Supply voltage must remain within 220–245V; additional equipment may be required if outside this range.
A3. Exclusions
Unless stated otherwise, installation quotations exclude:

Cable trays, conduits, or AC containment
-
Structural strengthening
-
DNO‑mandated equipment or charges (e.g., G99 upgrades)
A4. Roof‑Specific Terms
New‑build tiled roofs
-
Ridges and verges should not be mortared before installation in module areas.
-
Roof must be felted, battened, and tiles laid (but not fixed) to allow access.
-
If the roofer is not present when required, delays and costs may occur.
Existing tiled roofs
-
Some mortar disturbance may be unavoidable; the Company is not liable unless agreed otherwise.
A5. Module & Inverter Substitution
-
The Company may substitute modules or inverters with equivalent MCS‑accredited products if necessary.
Schedule B – Additional Works (Repairs, Call‑Outs, Upgrades)
B1. Definition
Additional works include:

Repairs
-
Fault finding
-
Upgrades or alterations
-
Emergency call‑outs
-
Remedial works following installation
B2. Pricing
Unless otherwise quoted:
-
Additional works are charged at hourly or day rates plus materials.
-
Call‑out fees may apply based on location and urgency.
-
Emergency or same‑day attendance may carry a premium.
B3. Exclusions
Additional works do not include:

Structural defect repairs
-
Pest, weather, or water‑ingress damage
-
Third‑party installation faults
-
Damage caused by Customer alterations or unauthorised works
B4. Variations
If further issues are identified:

The Customer will be notified
-
Updated estimates will be provided
-
Works will not continue without approval
Schedule C – Inspection Services (Annual or One‑Off)
C1. Scope
Inspection services may include:

Visual inspection of the solar array and mounting hardware
-
Electrical safety checks
-
System performance review
-
A written inspection report
C2. Exclusions
Inspections do not include:
-
Repairs
-
Replacement components
-
System upgrades or optimisation
These will be quoted separately under Schedule B.
C3. Customer Requirements
-
Safe access must be provided to all system components.
-
If access is not possible, wasted time or re‑attendance may be chargeable.
C4. Outcomes
-
A written report will be provided.
-
Any recommended works will be itemised separately.
Schedule D – Subscription Services (Monitoring, Inspections & Call‑Out Packages)
D1. Overview
The Company offers optional subscription packages to support ongoing system performance, monitoring, and maintenance. These services are not included in installation works unless purchased separately.
D2. Online Monitoring Subscription

Provides remote monitoring of system performance through the inverter and meter manufacturer’s online platform.
-
Monitoring is limited to the data made available by the manufacturer’s platform; the Company cannot access or provide data beyond what the platform supplies.
-
Alerts may be generated for system faults, low performance, or communication issues.
-
The Company is not responsible for outages caused by Customer Wi‑Fi, internet issues, or third‑party platform failures.
D3. Annual Inspection Subscription

Includes one scheduled annual inspection as outlined in Schedule C.
-
Subscription customers receive priority booking.
-
Any remedial works identified will be quoted separately.
D4. Call‑Out Packages
-
Subscription packages include a clearly stated number of call‑outs per year.
-
Additional call‑outs beyond the included number will be chargeable at standard rates.
-
Call‑outs cover attendance and diagnosis only; parts and repairs are chargeable unless otherwise stated.
-
Emergency or out‑of‑hours attendance may incur additional fees unless included in the chosen package.
D5. Customer Responsibilities
-
The Customer must maintain a stable internet connection for monitoring services.
-
Any changes to Wi‑Fi, router, or network settings must be communicated to the Company if monitoring is included.
-
Failure to maintain connectivity may limit the effectiveness of monitoring services.
D6. Term, Billing & Late Payment
-
Subscription services are billed monthly or annually.
-
Subscriptions may be cancelled with 30 days’ written notice.
-
No refunds are provided for unused services within a billing period.
-
The Company reserves the right to charge a £25 late payment fee for overdue subscription payments unless a prior agreement has been made.
